Rock and Roll Hall of Famer Carlos Santana was honored with another milestone induction on June 23, 2006, when he became part of the Hollywood Bowl Hall Of Fame during their Seventh Annual ceremony. Founded in 2000, the Hollywood Bowl Hall of Fame, "celebrates those consummate creators and performers, who, through their talent and effort, have established themselves as true superstars -- with appearances on screen, stage, recordings, and at the Bowl -- whose contributions to the arts have made them part of the fabric of American culture."

The June 23 date also marked "Opening Night At The Bowl," one of the world famous venue's biggest evenings all year. Carlos performed on a special bill that included Andre Watts who was also inducted into the Hollywood Bowl Hall of Fame this evening, the Blue Man Group, John Mauceri and the Hollywood Bowl Orchestra, John C. Reilly and the Downey High School Jazz Band (who were fantastic). The gala event was in benefit of "Music Matters," the Los Angeles Philharmonic's educational initiative, dedicated to creating innovative music education programs for people of all ages and backgrounds. Recently, Music Matters added extra focus towards supporting Los Angeles public schools and their renewed commitment to restoring arts education for all students.

In this partial recording of the evening's event, Olmos talks too much, Lopez is real funny, and Santana performs three songs with full orchestra backing.
