Hardly any concert footage: interviews, reports and a documentary
1. 7 Jun 1984: the full Earsay interview with Morrissey (BBC 2)(44:16')
Morrissey interview, edited down to 10 minutes. The whole unbroadcast 45 minutes interview has since been in circulation on bootleg videos/dvds. Topics: family, celibacy, fans, school, childhood, fame, loneliness, the third sex, religion and the plans for the Smiths' future.
2. April 1984: The Smiths on Charlie's Bus (03:40)
A bus ride with Morrissey, Marr, Sandie Shaw and kids ending at Kew Gardens where Sandie performs "Jeane" with Johnny on acoustic guitar. When asked where they were going, Morrissey answered "We're going mad!".
3. 21 Feb 1985: a feature on The Smiths by Tony Wilson for Granada Reports (Granada TV)(05:14)
The Smiths are interviewed by Tony Wilson during rehearsals for the upcoming Meat Is Murder Tour.
4. early 1985?: "Back To The Old House": interview with Morrissey on the vanished landscape of his youth in Manchester (05:17)
5. 7 April 1984: Morrissey & Marr on Datarun (ITV)(04:26)
Datarun was a children's programme. Morrissey and Marr were asked questions by the children, then they did a short acoustic version of This Charming Man with the kids chanting in. Includes soundcheck footage of "Still Ill" and "Hand In Glove" from a March concert at Manchester's Free Trade Hall.
6. 18 Oct 1987: The South Bank Show (ITV)(50:00)
Documentary including live footage. The timing for this documentary couldn't have been better. It was prepared earlier in the year, but presented shortly after the split of the band. Contains interviews of Morrissey, Marr, Joyce and Rourke, as well as Linder, Shaun Duggan, Jo O'Keefe, John Peel, Nick Kent, Sandie Shaw and Viv Nicholson.
