Vol. 3

This one covers the start of Magic Time's release and features Van at his lounge lizard best and features See Me Through-albeit briefly but the only performance of 2005 as well as Healing Game's only appearance by itself. We conclude with Milan-Italy-my favorite concerts of 2005 although by far not the best recorded, but the man is cooking and on fire. The absolute best version of Gloria all year!!!!!

We start off with Lately - at least half of it is slow. We then follow with a variety of shows-all of which contain his best performances of the song in this year. Most of them he did infrequently in 2005. Get On With The Show and Long Distance Call are the only appearances. Barcelona is a strange place for a great version of Solid Ground. We finish off with great versions and sound quality of Early In The Morning, Afternoon and Help Me from Ronnie Scott's

Volume 6

Well our journey through 2005 comes to an end. A lot of the purists may not be happy with this bastardization of Van's shows of 2005 but my feeling is that Van's shows of the last few years have lacked a lot. sometimes he just goes
through the motions for the whole show. Other times glimpses of brilliance are shown and very rarely is a whole show remarkable. I consider myself a purist
also and I collect all his shows - not just FM or soundboard I think these shows are vastly over rated because the sound may be dead on-but if "He's Not Feeling It Anymore-I'm Just Giving You The Score then what is the sense to listen to him
go through the motions.

Many people complain about Van nowadays-myself included but there are times when he doesn't just mail in his performance. This compilation will be all about the times he is on. These nuggets are not necessarily the best recorded versions and in general are all from audience recordings. Some of them represent the only time he performed certain songs in 2005. And yes the horns are here and C & W is nowhere to be found
