Comment
KMPX came to prominence in 1967 under the driving force of Tom Donahue, and is generally credited as the first "underground" radio station. Robert Charles "Gus" Gossert worked at various radio stations from coast to coast throughout his short career, and died in 1976 at age 33, the victim of a shooting. But at the time of this interview he was an even younger 25, interviewing another 25-year-old, Jimi Hendrix. The tape runs about 9:18. and recording quality is quite good. Music is heard in the background during the interview, and sometimes as a door opens it gets momentarily louder. From comments made about the recording of Electric Ladyland, and the fact that Buddy Miles was interviewed a few days earlier, it suggests that this could well he from the Experience's Winterland stand between 10 - 12 October 1968. In fact, it's possible the interview may he backstage dunng the opening performance by the Buddy Miles Express.
