"When It Thunders Think Of John Entwistle"
Memorial Service to Celebrate the Life and Bless the Passing of
John Entwistle (9th October 1944 - 27th June 2002)
10-24-02 11.00am
St.Martin-in-the-Fields
Trafagar Square
London, England
Tapers Notes:
I made this recording of John's Memorial service for no other reason than to send to two dear friends
who were unable to attend the service. I have in the past had requests to pass it on from the few Who
fans who knew I had recorded it, but due to the personal nature of the recording and the fear of
upsetting John's family I have always been unwilling to do so. I have since discovered that it is the
only recording of the service in existence and for the past couple of years I have carried the burden
of denying fans who were unable to attend the service the chance to hear it, but did so with respect
for John's family.
I was recently told that John's Mum Queenie often regretted that the service was never recorded, and
when informed of my recording she requested a copy. How could I refuse' Queenie was delighted to
hear the service once again and after some consultation with John's son Chris, agreed that the
recording should be made available to all those who were friends or fans of John.
'Chris and I are both in agreement that the Memorial service was not only for family, friends and the
fans that attended on the day, but for everyone who had been touched by my son's life.' Queenie
So with the full backing of John's family this recording is now available, feel free to pass it on.
It has been stated, 'If any unscrupulous trader makes this CD a commercial venture and charges for
the CD to make a profit, this CD will come under strict copyright laws'.
Thanks to: Queenie, Chris, Karen, Ron Dovey (without whom Queenie would never have known of this
recording), hntgzr for the artwork and above all, John Entwistle, for all the beautiful memories.
