Genesis 1978-??-??
Various, Various, Various
Set 1
August 28, 1978 - Vienna TV Special - Austria (19 minutes)
The source for this is a 3rd generation tape. It seems to suffer from super high saturation, so much so that the colors look like they overload the capability of the tape/equipment. It looks to me like this causes the strange lines / lost resolution especially in the blue lights. An excellent film that would greatly benefit from a rebroadcast (see below) despite the overdubs of Phil's interviews.
Includes The Lamb Lies Down on Broadway, Musical Box, In The Cage, The Cinema Show, Afterglow, and Interviews
October 1978 - Three Dates with Genesis - Live Documentary (16 minutes)
This portion of the full 50 minute documentary includes all live tracks. It is an unknown generation, but has great video stability as compared with many other sources. The full documentary was not included as I was not able to find the same quality in the full version, the live tracks are the most interesting, and it simply would not fit on the disc.
Includes clips of many live tracks including The Cinema Show, Many Too Many, and The Lady Lies from Knebworth
December 3, 1978 - Sun Plaza Hall Tokyo - Japan TV (29 Minutes)
This film was broadcast on Japanese TV several times, but unfortunately not recently. There were some slightly different versions with minor camera differences. The main problem with this film is the dark stage and minimal close-ups. Genesis did not have the full mirror stage setup that they used on the rest of their tour. Still there are some enjoyable moments and lengthy songs in this concert.
Includes 11th Earl of Mar, Dance on a Volcano, Drum Duet, Los Endos, and I Know What I Like
1978 - Unknown Location - 8mm (15 Minutes)
Considering that this silent film is 8mm, the quality is excellent. One of the best I've ever seen. The colors and close-ups are terrific and includes great footage of the mirrors. This was a very rare film for many years and I was one of only a few sources where it could be found. Unfortunately, I have since lost touch with my source for the film and am unable to determine the exact location where it was shot. Live music was added to make it more enjoyable.
June 13, 1978 - Hamburg, Germany - 8mm (7 Minutes)
June 14, 1978 - Dortmund, Germany - 8mm (4 Minutes)
Both of these silent films are very low-generation (1st or 2nd) but are not as clear as the 8mm film above. There are however some nice moments and worth watching. Live music was added to make them more enjoyable.
Bonus Footage 1978 - Austrian TV (7 Minutes)
In the early-mid 1990s some of the footage used in the original 1978 Vienna TV special was re-broadcast as part of much longer Genesis specials spanning their entire career. I have taken this footage and pieced it together to provide a much-improved picture over what was available from the 1978 broadcast. There is even some additional footage that was not part of the original broadcast, albeit very short.
