Contortions 1977-??-??
CBGB's, New York, NY

Set 1
My best guess at a setlist follows. Studio versions of these songs can be found on the album Buy The Contortions (Ze Records 1979) except where other titles are indicated.

Track01
00:00-00:13 hiss
00:13-02:38 Designed To Kill
02:38-06:52 I Can't Stand Myself [James Brown cover, c.f. version on No New York (Antilles 1978)]
06:52-08:57 My Infatuation
08:57-12:27 Anesthetic
12:27-16:18 Almost Black Part 1 [c.f. version on off white (Ze 1979), by "James White & The Blacks"]
16:18-16:50 aggro "I don't wanna get syphilis from your spit"
16:50-20:14 Roving Eye
20:14-23:25 Jaded [c.f. version on No New York]
23:25-27:37 Bedroom Athlete
27:37-27:48 silence (this interval seems to separate two different shows)
27:48-30:30 tuning
30:30-33:00 I Don't Want To Be Happy
33:00-36:09 Roving Eye
36:09-39:57 Dish It Out [c.f. version on No New York]
39:57-45:08 My Infatuation
45:08-45:23 crowd noise
45:23-45:31 silence

Track02
00:00-05:29 Jaded [c.f. yet another version on Sax Maniac (Animal Records 1982) as "Disco Jaded"]

Track03
00:00-05:39 Bedroom Athlete

TT= 0:56:39

By the different versions of "Roving Eye", I'm guessing {Track01 00:00-27:37} is from 1979, and {Track01 27:48-45:31} is 1977. Track02 & Track03 sound more like 1977 than 1979; I can't tell if they are from the 1977 show on Track01.

sound quality: good (1979) to fair+ (1977) audience, none releaseable, all listenable, band is much louder than the audience. Bad sound quality probably enhances this music.

Not to join the Committee Of Ungrateful Bitching People Who Should Just Stop Coming To EzT, but I would encourage those of us who encode Shorten files to make them seekable.

Thank you for posting this. I enjoy NYC's irritating music from this period (1975-1980), and would like to hear as much of it as possible.
