Comment
This record was originally released in 1972 and at that time I though it was one of the most interesting Little Richard albums in history. As a matter of fact I still believe it is. The only complaint I had about the '72 album was the soundquality which left a lot to be desired. Now, 6 years later, we have a re-issue of the same album and boy what a difference. A 100% improvement !

The album features material recorded between 1956 and 1958 for Specialty in New Orleans. All tracks have Richard's good old backup band with Lee Allen on sax, and all are different from the songs finally released. These are not just alternate takes, also some studio chat is included as well as several false starts. The last ones being very noticeable on "She Knows How To Rock" which opens with a complete conversation in which Richard is heard complaining about the speed of the song. No such complaints with "Long Tall Sally" and "Good Golly Miss Molly" which both are far slower than the hit versions. Especially "Sally" breaths a strong New Orleans air. Not everything is slow, "Ooh My Soul" for instance is Richard at his wildest. The album ends with a 22 second commercial by Richard for Royal Crown Hairdressing.

Besides the improved sound quality the Redita label reprinted the cover and re-designed the lay-out of the liner notes, giving the whole package a much better look. The reissue also includes a bonus track: "Chicken Little Baby", from a 1955 demo tape, issued on a limited edition red vinyl single, Specialty 734, in 1983.
