With an all-star line-up featuring Russell Batiste, Jr. (Funky Meters; Vida Blue), John Gros (George Porter, Jr.'s Runnin' Pardners), Jason Mingledorff (Galactic), June Yamagishi (Wild Magnolias), Peter V. (Cyril Neville) and Marc Pero, Papa Grows Funk has grown from a weekly Monday night jam-session at New Orleans' Maple Leaf Bar into a national touring act with a coast to coast fan base. Recently voted Best Funk Band by New Orleans' Big Easy Awards and Offbeat Magazine, Papa Grows Funk is the funkiest act to emerge from the Crescent City in years, a throwback to the bluesy, stripped-down sound of New Orleans' pioneering instrumental group, The Meters.
