HIGH HOPES
Catalogue No./Label: CFC004 (Chelsea Records)
Format: German/Luxembourg CD
Release Date: 1994
Notes: This is the only bootleg currently available which brings together some of Suede's TV material, and the only one to feature the very hard to find tracks "Wonderful Sometimes" a early demo released 1990 on the cassette "What the world is waiting for", also included are "Be My God" and "Art" the bands first white label, featuring Mike Joyce from the Smiths on drums and Justine Frischman on bass (Simon Gilbert hadn't joined Suede yet). All three appear here in excellent quality. Another highlight is the well recorded Brit Awards version of "Animal Nitrate" which is played in such a way that it seems like it's going to fly apart at any second. One should note that not all of the TV material is in stereo. The Late Show and Tonight Show appearances are non-stereo and consequently quite poor. The rest of the disc, however, is well worth the money. The two page CD booklet features an early shot of Brett live at the "100 Club" on September 15th, 1992, and a black and white photo of Brett (taken in his flat at Notting Hill) is displayed underneath the clear CD tray. The disc itself is red.
