Desmond's Tavern, 433 Park Ave. between 29th & 30th, is one of the oldest Irish pubs in Manhattan, if you count six decades as one of the many Blarney Stones that dotted Manhattan.  It changed names around 1990 and started hosting live music.  It was an unusual venue, with long, massive wooden bar running down the side of the space to an archway that opened into a wood-paneled dining room in the back, decorated with pictures of Olde Ireland and the usual collection of framed newspaper clippings, signed celebrity headshots, etc.  The Other Half would routinely pack the place, with a line down the sidewalk.   Enjoy! --mhg :: 2021-03-15
