First, it was a free to the public concert celebrating the grand opening of Element Eatery. The concert was held outside near the rear of the property in a large open area. The show was only announced a week and a half prior, so the turnout could have been better. Eventually, everyone inside (who was eating), came outside to check out the band. Second, TVP were without their drummer Zach  Dubay, their keyboardist Randall Sly and a violinist. The drums were  filled in by Brian Vannieuwenhoven. He always does a great job. However, the absence of Randall was quite apparent. Channing did a nice job playing a pre recorded bit on her "pad" for "Photograph", but with other songs he was sorely missed. He had a prior obligation with another band, so Im sure he'll be back for all future shows! The third interesting tidbit was that the band decided to come down (OK - Brian, Lou and Channing) and perform sans PA right in front of my stand to the crowd covering the Lindsey Buckingham classic "Holiday Road". The kids in attendance were really getting into it and the crowd harmonized towards the end and made it truly special. One of the best moments of the night. Speaking of covers, the band opened with "Sgt. Pepper's Lonely Hearts Club Band", which I had never seen before! That was really surprising. So, this show (while lacking in some areas), excelled in others. Made for a unique performance and one thats worth listening to. We had perfect weather (70 at showtime with the sun setting) and no wind, so I went with the DPA's from dead center at PA level. I think it turned out real nice. I'd also like to add I really enjoyed the performance of "What Might Have Been", the one song they played from their 2021 LP, "Threads".
