This is a "best of" compilation of live recordings of all of SCW's original songs, current through September 2014. The songs are in chronological order by year written, and all recordings are from live performances in 2013/2014. Small Craft Warning is a New York City-based "Dead-style" jam band which has developed an original repertoire of jam tunes which draw their inspiration from the Hunter/Garcia songbook - mixed with a dash of their own unique medicine, of course. The fact is that there are precious few original jam bands. There are many Dead cover bands, and a whole generation of "groove/electronica" bands. BUT, there are few bands that have really pursued the Grateful Dead's twin aims of crafting thoughtful, timeless songs while simultaneously creating in-the-moment, mind-bending improvisational music.
