Robert Hunter’s contribution to the Grateful Dead repertoire is well documented, and together with fellow songwriter and lyricist John Perry Barlow he raised innumerable song lyrics to the level of eternal poetry. As Hunter’s family announced: "For his fans that have loved and supported him all these years, take comfort in knowing that his words are all around us, and in that way he is never truly gone. In this time of grief please celebrate him the way you all know how, by being together and listening to the music. Let there be songs to fill the air.” Last Tuesday Mr. Blotto did just that and paid tribute to Hunter during their weekly residency at Reggie’s. Their entire first set was an uninterrupted thread and jam of some of his most memorable songs, with an encore of Days Between > Ripple. RIP Robert Hunter!
