I am certain that the source for this FM broadcast recording is edited down from one or more soundboard reels  and it was definitely not recorded 'live-to-air'. The average concert length on this  SoCal leg is over 100 minutes and there are some standards missing from this set list.  FM characteristics are definitely present. While there is no DJ commentary nor  station IDs, these may have been edited out during analog dubbing. I detect the edits where tunes are missing from the usual set and the more- obvious cassette-copy tape flips. According to the auditory evidence, the faded songs were broadcast that way which means a cassette (with some songs left out) was likely the source for this broadcast. There is then, of course, another set of tape flips by whoever captured this broadcast. Quite possibly this emanates from a more-recent LFRH broadcast and/or LF's archivists posted this on LMA. There is some evidence suggests that this concert was broadcast in its entirety, which would mean this version is missing about 9 minutes of Dixie Chicken and the usual 5-minute follow-on, Tripe Face Boogie. If this is the case, the off-air taper was not attentive and missed about 15 minutes prior to the encore break. Editor's Comments on Audio Quality of the LMA source: - detected at least 2 analog cassette generations (there are 2 sets of tape flips and one set has repeated sections), at least one reel generation, minor digital errors and clicks that are consistent with DAT tape cloning errors. - continuous clicking in right channel throughout (broadcast reception?), lots of crackle and random clicks - can't hear the NTSC tape generation at all, not even a pilot tone - there is an excellent noise sample at the end of fragment A - there is standard FM phase offset, lots of crackle and clicks and pops - need to repair and join the of-air tape flips --Restoration-- Professor Goody - verified speed plaz: - corrected DC offset errors - removed cd-split after track 8 and increased the gain of tracks 9-11 to match the levels of tracks 1-8 - balanced and gain normalized - corrected global FM phase offset: -0.20 ms - repaired clicks, pops and analog drop-outs - repaired digital drop-outs and some minor digi-glitches - edited out tape flips during closing applause of track 8 - cut tracks and packaged for sharing -- the usual, no SBEs, etc. Flying M (Har-Bal 3.7 & iZotope RX6 advanced): - cleaned up many more clicks, glitches, drops out and the like - removed continuous tape transport noise in right channel (ticks) - final EQ and tonal adjustments for a wider stereo image with more presence and better harmonic balance Final Comments: Thanks to Flying M for taking this formerly shelved project the final steps to our hungry ears. Listening now, while tracking, I can safely say this is the best sound possible for this source . This really soars now. Put on yer sailin' shoes, turn this up, and dance! Who cares what the kids think? Enjoy: FlyingM, plaz and Goody too (shoes).
