Your Mama Don't Dance Cast of characters: Kevin B. Selby - Keyboards, Bass/Drum programming, Vocals, acoustic guitar, melodica Greg Miner - Sax, Flute Katie Wolski - Vocals * - The first three songs of the third set did not get a Zoom R16 multi-track recording (forgot to hit the RECORD button...duh). Therefore, they are sourced from the recording captured by the Zoom Q3HD at the back of the room. $ - Only got part of "Break Down Here". Very sorry about that. Gorgeously done by Ms. Wolski. Musicians perspective: Okay...so Kevin was sick as a dog. Need proof? Listen to the intro to Route 66. But...as Pink Floyd sang those many years ago, "the shoooooow....must.....go oooooooonnnnn." Actually...a good old-fashioned head cold mixed with throat issues CAN give you an interesting vocal experience on the bluesier tunes. Ah well...it was still fun. Katie Wolski showed up and just sounded sweet as ever. Really enjoying helping to mature that talent. Even though Kevie was dead to the world...still some pretty decent moments of energy at times. Music is cool that way. The crowd picked up at the start of the third set, so that certainly helped! This particular recording is the matrix recording. A "matrix" recording is where you take a soundboard recording and blend in a stereo recording "from the room" (in this case, a Zoom Q3HD sitting at the back of the room pointed at our PA speakers). Matrix recordings usually pick up more of the room noise and crowd noise, but it is the frequencies and overall sound of the room that the soundboard recording DOESN'T pick up...so blending these two sources gives you a more "live" and warm sound when compared to a straight soundboard recording. Until next time, Kevin B. Selby
