Waitin' For Basie by Larry Heyl performed by the Arkansas State University Tube Euphonium Studio in the ASU Choir Room directed by Dr. Ed Owen 01 Waitin For Basie I was running tech for the Count Basie Orchestra. They played at ASU this fall. We got a call that they were running an hour late so I went to a practice room to practice piano and "Waitin' For Basie" was the result. I didn't name it until the next morning after the concert when I was notating it in Finale. When I went to RockTubaFest, a low brass concert in the same hall, I was inspired to score "Waitin' For Basie" for Tuba Euphonium Quartet. Thanks to Dr. Owen and Dr. Tacke for their help with the orchestration. Support live music with your attendance. It's inspirational. I have also recorded an electric jazz/blues version of the song.
