BODY/PRISON ("We Are Water" was on the setlist, but not performed due to equipment malfunction) 14. Crusher This was one of my most anticipated acts of Riot Fest and HEALTH did not disappoint. My buddy and I bought tickets immediately when the HEALTH + Nine Inch Nails combo was announced because both of those bands are in our top 10. W were coming from the west coast and it was definitely a "buy tickets now, figure out logistics later" situation we were that pumped. Despite the oppressive heat, equipment malfunctions, a talkative crowd, lack of a convenient water station, HEALTH managed to deliver a blistering set. I thought that they played incredibly well and I think it is a shame that they did not have a longer slot. Unfortunately, the crowd wasn't into them. It was pretty hot out and people seemed to be more content with talking to their friends than listening. I originally was 30 meters back right of stage near the rail but had to move around a lot to avoid talkers and drunk assholes. As a result the first two songs are kind of hot with respect to recording levels but I didn't adjust them. There was someone near me that not only talked the entire time and grabbing random strangers to talk to them about whatever was on her mind but when wasn't talking was shaking her butt that was adorned with Tamborine pieces so she managed the rare combo of being intolerable both when she was talking and when she was not. I don't get it - if you want to be social at a concert do it in the back, NOT near the stage. Anyways, HEALTH had an equipment malfunction presumably due to the heat and had to bail on "We Are Water". They had their equipment hidden under sheets but I think the sun managed to kill it despite their preventive efforts. I can't wait to see them again, and I hope they come to the west coast soon.
