This was my 10th time seeing Godspeed, and my 7th time taping/recording them I believe? And out of those 7 times, this is by far my worst recording. I had the perfect spot, it was a perfect set, but I had my levels on the PCM-M10 set way to fucking high and I totally spaced out/forgot to check and adjust them at the start of the show. So the whole recording ran "hot" and clipped and is just, in my opinion, totally fucked up. If I had properly adjusted, this may have been one of the best recordings yet, but I didn't and it's not, and there's nothing I can do about it, except share it and move on. I wouldn't expect anyone to listen to this on the daily or anything, but here it is for the diehards and the completists and those who were there and want to relive that night in some form and fashion. I was about 15 feet back from the stage, and a little to the right stack, and the set sounded perfect to my ears. Loud and clear. They only had 50 min/1 hour or so of time to play, so they skipped any type of "Hope Drone" intro and walked right onto the stage and started into "Job's Lament"/"Glaciers", which I expected. In fact, I figured we'd get the two new songs Glaciers/Cliffs and one "old" song. Would that be "Storm", "Moya", "Sad Mafioso"? Well it ended up being "BBF3", which I'll never complain about. I love that song. In fact, ending a festival with "BBF3" is one of the best ways to end a festival if you ask me. It couldn't have been more perfect (well if my recording came out better, it could have been I suppose). I'll never tire of this band, I'll never tire of hearing "Cliffs", which is becoming one of my all time favorites, and the next time they play and I see them, I promise to make it up to everyone and nail a better sounding recording for all of us to enjoy. I'm bummed Stacie decided to see the Strokes instead, wish she could have experienced this, but this will have to suffice. Flaws and all. As Thom Yorke once said, all our mistakes are our own work...
