The ping pong ball said "Brian sings" This was the opening night of Guster's 2nd annual "On The Ocean Festival". The State Theatre was incredibly hot and humid inside. There were technical difficulties on stage during the 1st 3 songs, but once these were sorted out the band presented us with an an amazing performance which included many deep tracks. Before the show, the band supplied ping pong balls to the fans and instructed them to write their song requests on them. They were thrown on stage during 'Airport Song'.During the middle portion of the show, they played songs based on what which ping pong balls were picked up off the floor (or what they actually wanted to play). Several other fans and I had been requesting 'Timothy Leary' for the last couple years, as it had only been played once previously (on BNL's Ships N Dip in 2006). The band played it the night before in PA, and presented an improved version to the Maine crowd. I had printed a lyric sheet in anticipation of them playing it on this night, and Ryan ended up using it. Thank you Dave M for the information about the horn players.
