The Rock gods must have called for a rockstorm Maybe it was the change of venue making things seem so much different, but tonight was just incredible. The White Iron boys got things started with a heavily blues-infused set and Jason sat in with them for a couple at the end. Baby Hold on was a great opener, and got what crowd there was up and moving. Standing There and Take Me To The River were smooth and sweet. Jason really stepped it up on Pace, and from there the show was at that next level. Fall In Line was tight and funky, with Jimmy and Timmy really having fun together. Have A Cigar just rocked. Apparently around this time the Police told them they had reached the `threshold of pain' but I think they're nuts – it really was mixed well in there given the environment. But during The Squirms, it was the Threshold of Pain that was gheigh in a major way. Naïve Melody was a lot of fun, always a favorite, and there was a nice transition into The Wrath. Then Fame really let out all the stops as the funk flowed like the Summit taps. The Doctor featured Jimmy and Jason really laying it down and was probably the highlight of the set for me. There was a bit of indecision about timing before they kicked into a quick Half Past One and then headed on over to Station Four for the Fancy Bastard jam. Lots of fun over there with some crazy combinations of sit-ins and guest appearances. Jason did a couple of Phish jams and Royce got up for a while, too. It was a great night in St. Paul, and I'm not sure they were quite ready for the ROCK to hit `em right between the eyes.
