Drivin n Cryin Live at The Little Beaver Bar on 2017-05-17

description
So me and BofD went to see Drivin N Cryin at a biker bar in Murrells Inlet. During Bike Week. And it was one of the greatest concert experiences of my life. We met up at 5 in the Publix Park West parking lot. Both of us knew something big and potentially life altering was about to happen; yet, rolling into the unknown, we simply cruised through Georgetown County wondering and watching the Santee landscape roll by... First and by far foremost; The people watching was sublime. As good as it could possibly be. Biker vests, men with long braided pony tails, boots, beards, and bewbs everywhere. Truly, biker culture is a mecca of breasts. Theyre not all great, but theyre all in your face. Fantastic.  So, after some mild confusion about the band being at the Beaver Bar or the Little Beaver Bar; we walked into the Tim Elliott opener. Knowing that something special was happening, I immediately threw up the mics in front of the sbd. Thats right, fob/dfc at a biker rally. Now, BofD and I discussed it after the show at length, and both agree this was Tim's Cornell 77/Huntsville 96 show. The fans were really getting into it, the energy was palpable. Im pretty sure I caught the sound guy sobbing a couple of times. Feeling the crowd energy mounting beyond control, Tim launched into a house cooling Hello Darlin. The Twitt-man himself was looking down from Nashville heaven with love and admiration for Tim Elliott I can assure you of that. Then the band really got comfortable and started to stretch out; with daring and sheer flawlessness. In and out of segues like Machine Gun Jimmy channeling the Great Frank Zappa reminding Trey he's just a little choir boy bitch. And just when you think the set cant get any better, that things are at an all time energy high.......BOOM 'Copperhead Road'. Then, as if it were a studio clinic for uptight musicians; Tim showed up the bands prowess and downright whimsical side by rolling through some 80s standards; anchored within a rousing 'I got Friends in Low Places' sandwich. His 'Ice Ice Baby' rap was perfection. He channeled Robbie Van Winkle succinctly. In retrospect, I assume Tim co-wrote 'Ice Ice Baby', Ill be asking him about that next time Im backstage. The 'Sweet Dreams' tease really showed off Tim's depth and range as a vocalist. As I closed my eyes and swayed back and forth, I truly believed Annie was onstage, bright orange hair and all. While noone was watching, I quickly poured some PBR on my face so the tougher seeming bikers wouldnt know I was crying. BofD was wearing glasses of course, so he had a natural barrier. This being said, Im likely quitting my job as a beverage professional and going on Tim Elliott tour. I know, we as a community have our preferences, bands we like and bands we hate; but I assure you, we will all agree on Tim Elliott as the next big thing; and his scene is literally about to explode like a supernova in a far reaching galaxy weve never heard of. Oh, we saw Drivin N Cryin too and they were pretty good too.
