California Kind  3/16/2018 - Sweetwater Music Hall, Mill Valley, CA  VGRM601  ********************************************************************************* This right here is a very careful & respectful remaster of the wonderful matrix shared by the great Tim Stiegler for us all. His original can be found here:  https://archive.org/details/cakind2018-03-16.flac16 The reason I remastered it is because while listening to it I became convinced that the channels were reversed. This took some internal arguing for me to be convinced as at times, Molo's rack tom sounded like a floor tom to me & so I felt like, " OK, it's correct. " But the more I listened, the more I could hear that the floor tom was actually on the wrong side & the ride cymbal was as well, etc. Plus Barry's guitar was on the left, Katie's ( & David's in Set 2 ) was on the right & Rob's keys were mostly accented in the right as well. That is the opposite of how they were situated onstage & so I felt justified in swapping the channels. If I was wrong then I apologize. After swapping, now it sounds like everything is in its right place ( at least to me...especially the panning on the drums ).  I also gave the thing a tad bit more bass ( which I felt it needed ) to give it more warmth & beefed it up, paying careful attention not to make any of the loud rack tom hits/spikes go over. Also found & cleanly removed more than a few clicks along the way & finally, did my level best to help the first 18 seconds of t11, where it seems the SBD was muted there & it jumps back into the mix after 18 seconds...I carefully raised that section of the 'mics only' to make it less of a jump back into the mix sound. There is still a little hiccup when the mix kicks back in, mind you, but I feel it is greatly improved for a listening experience now. If I had the original separate channels, I could have made that much, much smoother with crossfades & such, but I'm working with what I got there.  All in all, I feel that this is a measured improvement & I hope you all agree.  & Super HUGE thanks to Monsieur Stiegler for his fine work & mix & kindness in sharing this beauty with us all in the first place. Oh yes!!  *********************************************************************************   Set 1-  1.
