Blues Traveler Straight On Till Morning Interview Disc Unknown date in 1997 Blues Traveler was interviewed by Dan Neer of Neer Perfect Productions in 1997, and this CD was released to promote "Straight On Till Morning". The questions below do not appear on the recording; the disc is designed to have the DJ ask the questions and make it seem like the band is in studio. Extraction: Original CD > xACT 2.50 (cdparanoia) > aiff > flac by Dave Mallick 01. So, did you go to your drummer Brendan's wedding? 02. After the "Four" tour, did you discover that you actually had a life? 03. Well, what did you do while you were having a life? 04. Now that you've achieved success with "Four", is it easier or harder to make records? 05. How do you guys put up with John? 06. Was it better for the band to get together and woodshed while you were working on the record? 07. While you were working on the record, was it easier to work things out with one another personally as opposed to your infamous band meetings that you had after shows while you're on tour? 08. John, have you gotten any more comfortable with the recording studio? 09. I think "Straight on Till Morning" is the best Blues Traveler album yet. Do you think so? 10. What do you think of the package for "Straight On Till Morning"? 11. How did you come up with the cover and title? 12. Your discussion of Buffalo Bill and the myth reminds me of the song "The Gunfighter" on the album. 13. Do you still have that kind of attitude towards harp playing? 14. So, you holstered your weapon and rode off into the sunset? 15. Chan, did you like the review about your lead guitar break in "Carolina Blues"? 16. What is the song "Felicia" about? 17. The time signature of "Felicia" gets your pelvic area moving. 18. Who plays piano on "Felicia"? 19. Is "Felicia" hard to play live? 20. "Justify the Thrill" is an intense song...about how people rationalize behavior. 21. This song is especially relevant in light of the intolerance that our society has for other opinions. Here in the US, we are supposed to welcome divergent opinions, yet violence occurs by people who can't accept a different view on an issue. 22. So, you'll be featuring your new philosophy in songs to come? 23. Is "Canadian Rose" based on a true story? 24. Do you think this song will go over well outside of the United States? 25. "Business As Usual" is quite a departure for Blues Traveler. 26. So, we've got the beat and the licks, what about the words? 27. Was it fun to rap, John? 28. "Yours" is a beautiful song. 29. It's not easy to capture emotion in a song. 30. "Yours" has such a stark, bare beginning...very small. 31. Was the guitar solo a lot of fun with all of those strings, Chan? 32. Tell me about "Psycho Joe". 33. "Psycho Joe" calls to mind Timothy McVeigh for me...as we've said before, some members of society have become so intolerant of other people's views that they resort to murder to "get their point across". 34. Is "Great Big World" an optimistic song? 35. "Battle of Someone" is a song that's been around a while, hasn't it? 36. Chan, you popped your lyric-writing cherry on "Last Night I Dreamed". 37. What is "Make My Way" about? 38. Who are the ladies on this song? 39. Blues Traveler is not anywhere near as popular overseas as they are here in the United States. What are you going to do about it? 40. The one big experience I know about is the festival you played in Switzerland after Montreux. 41. John, from the early days, tell me about Scary Jose. 42. Tell me about the first gig you did when Bill Graham took over your management.
