Recorded on May 31, 2007 at HairyLarryLand Credits: Producer - Larry Heyl Performer - Hairy Larry Comments: Three urban blues patterens in E. One based loosely off "Oh Pretty Woman" or "Born In Chicago", one with a ZZ Tops sound, and one based on a pattern that I call Stronger Than Dirt, from the Ajax commercial. Then back to the first pattern to end the song. I just got my EV PL6 so I wandted to try it out. The SM57 is a famous low end cabinet mic that gets used on many high quality recordings. So I thought I would compare the two. The PL6 holds up good in the comparison with the same grit and growl but a slightly different hollow sound. I think either mic would be a good choice for blues or rock electric guitar and, of course, each mic will sound different at different distances from the speakers and at different angles. Now for the puzzle. When I set up in my van for this video it wasn't just because I was too lazy to unload my twin. There is a literary precedent in the history of comedy movies. A free DVD to the first person who guesses the precedent I had in mind and free DVDs for anyone who tells me about other movies where they play electric guitar out of a van. Send to hairylarry@deltaboogie.com By the way this looks great but doesn't sound so good. From where I stood I heard way too much treble and string noise. Fortunately this didn't come through on the recording because of the close mics.
