TRACK LIST: 01. soundcheck [4:28] 02. Intro Jam [8:21] 03. tuning [1:08] 04. Benzaiten [16:07] (I originally referred to this as "Unknown Song #1", hence "Unknown Song #2" later on) 05. tuning [1:21] 06. Unknown Song #2 [9:43] (featuring Cotton Casino on vocals) 07. Kawabata's Pink Reflections [3:31] 08. Pink Lady Lemonade [9:34] 09. Om Riff [11:20] 10. Cometary Orbital Drive > Speed Guru [12:56] SHOW NOTES: Cotton Casino as an unannounced special guest! Without a doubt a must-have for Cotton fans. I haven't had much time to sink my teeth into the "new" songs, so I can't offer much in the way of ruminations. This is without a doubt the shortest Pink Lady Lemonade I've ever witnessed - including the "Nocturne", it's not even 15 minutes in length. I daresay this was a slight disappointment (even if it led into a great Om Riff). It's early in the tour, so hopefully Pink Lady will only get better from here! Definitely a change of pace having the Acid Mothers start off on the East coast - will be exciting to hear them at the end of the tour in Philly to see just how it's evolved from these relatively-inauspicious, humble beginnings. Looking back on this show (as I write this paragraph in 2015), this may actually be the second-ever live performance of Benzaiten (the debut - assuming this song wasn't played in Asia before the U.S. tour - would be the night before at the Mercury Lounge) - really interesting looking, or listening, back on it. Gotta say, though, I think this song got better with age - the 2015 performances sound a lot more energetic, either due to the faster tempo or Satoshima's mutant drum approach vs KoShi's more jazzy stylings, or quite possibly both.
