Tedeschi-Trucks Band January 29, 2017 Johnny Mercer Theater Savannah, Georgia USA Comments from the taper: It was an amazing and very special show. The band was doing a string of shows during the time that we lost Butch Trucks, and this was the last show before they had a good break. It was special. The show was originally to have Leon Russell open but he died a few weeks prior, so we got, “An Evening With”. I was on the front row in front of Susan directly and laid my phone down on the stage right beside her monitor. And also as I said in the post, Butch had left just a few days prior to this show and this was the last show for a month or so. So….. they were really getting out there. I do believe that Derek was drinking on stage that night. Him and Tim (the bass player at the time), and Kofi were just going nuts. The second set opened with Tim playing something from his phone (I think it is MLK). Anyway…. it was an amazing night and folks were on fire. I thought it was a better than usual show and they were letting it all hang out, and the recording was good, as far as phone recording go.
