Tommy August and the Rum Syndicate is St. Thomas' best (and only) Rockabilly outfit. The band covers various decades and has lots of fun originals as well. The band has had the fortune of playing some gorgeous locales from docks to bays and is now a regular weekly staple of Iggie's Beach Bar and Grill located at Bolongo Bay Resort. The band consists of front person and lead guitarist, Tommy August; rhythm guitar and vocalist, Mimi de Seda; bassist and vocalist, Bad Boy Paul Dirks; and rounding out the four piece is Reverend Tim on drums. Stylistically, they have been likened to a punk Little Richard meets Reverend Horton Heat. The band performs a fun and danceable mix of old school rockabilly, surf, and a little bit of punk. Whatever you label them, they are always fun. Tommy August and the Rum Syndicate are proud supporters of Pin-ups in Paradise: an organization dedicated to helping people with mental illness.
