Hidalgo's songs have been covered by the Jerry Garcia Band, Waylon Jennings, Bonnie Raitt and others. He has performed in Eric Clapton's Crossroads Guitar Festival since its inception in 2004, most recently in April 2013 at Madison Square Garden with Los Lobos. Eric Clapton joined the band on stage for their song "Burn It Down" off of their latest album, Tin Can Trust. His son, David Hidalgo, Jr. is the current drummer for Social Distortion. In addition to his work with Los Lobos, Hidalgo frequently plays musical instruments such as accordion, violin, 6-string banjo, cello, requinto jarocho, percussion, drums and guitar as a session musician on other artists' releases. David Hidalgo Jr. - David Hidalgo Jr. (born August 30, 1984) is an American drummer who plays in the punk rock band Social Distortion. He is the son of David Hidalgo, guitarist and singer of Los Lobos. The younger David began playing drums at age four. Hidalgo decided to become a career musician at age 20. He began playing with Suicidal Tendencies in 2002 until about 2007.[2] He also plays drums for The Bronx/Mariachi El Bronx (beginning in 2015 on a tour and later in 2016 as a member as well as its side project The Drips and the hardcore punk band Bullet Treatment with a variety of lineups that also included members of Rise Against, The Bronx, Cancer Bats, Anti-Flag and others. Joining Social Distortion in 2010, he replaced former drummer Scott Reeder, who had been busy with his main project Fu Manchu. David also toured with Brody Dalle in her Spinnerette and self-titled projects. He has recorded and toured with Chuck Ragan and Dave Hause. He also recorded on a Greg Graffin solo album. Vincent Hidalgo - The Drips is a punk rock band from Los Angeles, currently signed to White Drugs/Wichita Recordings. A side-project of members of various other bands, The Drips are Matt Caughthran and Joby J. Ford, both from The Bronx, Tony Bevilaqua from The Distillers, David Hidalgo Jr. from Suicidal Tendencies and Social Distortion and Vincent Hidalgo from Bullet Treatment and Mariachi el Bronx (bass).
