Jam-Bone Live at American Legion on 2022-07-15

description
Acoustic Jam-Bone live  John's performance notes: Track 1 - Leaving Vegas:  Strong start. Always good. Remarkably, and uncharacteristic of the band, we were playing so quiet that I could hear the audience talking.  Track 2 - Joker:  Similar groove, bouncy. Again letting the audience settle in for the evening.  Love the singalong thing. John John Cermenaro Track 3 - doctor my:  Picking up the energy now. Steve played a lead solo on bass! Lots of good eye contact delivered solid results. Plumpton is pleased.  Track 4 - Bertha:  Drummer is getting louder. Probably switched to sticks. Promised himself he would tap lightly and keep the volume down. He’s an optimist. He’s lying to himself. He’s not going to tap lightly. Oh wait, we’re at the part of the song where Plumpton starts playing lead on the 12-string. Melodic and haunting. Nobody does that on a 12-string. Bass, drums, percussion laying down a rhythmic carpet. Hypnotic. Followed by explosions. Track 5 - Stir It Up:  Legit performance, bouncy. Snare rimshots worked beautifully. Long song. How I didn’t fall off the bike at some point, I have no idea. Oh, the VOCALS!  Was that a bass /drums solo at the end? Track 6 - Back on Train:  Vocals!  Caren taking charge, thank you.  Track 7 - Salisbury:  This song stayed in my head for days. I can’t believe we actually played it. Oh, the 12-string. The bass!  Rhythmic carpet. Track 8 - Sloop John B:  working out the details on the spot. Oh, the vocals. Infectious song. Gotta sing with it. People were dancing.  Track 9 - Not Fade Away:  Unplanned. Unscripted. So Jam-Bone. Fully committed to sticks. Not tapping lightly. What is that guitar work!  Classic Jam-Bone exploration. Trading 4’s. Steve & Rich waaaaay out in tethers. I’d buy a ticket for this. The groove just plays itself.  Ha! Caren seizes the opportunity for sing along. And I love how amazed we are when we stick the ending. 11:12 AM John John Cermenaro Track 10 - Free Fallin:  What? Where did that come from?  Oh, the 12-string. Big. Fat. Wide. Then there’s Kirchuk playing cello with a volume knob. It’s why people think Jam-Bone has more musicians hidden in the back. Holy crap, listen to the audience singing!  What?!? Yeah, Caren is a pro. Whoa, singing in rounds? Bass solo. All about the vocals. Hypnotic groove. What a song.  Track 11 - streets:  Again, impossible 12-string work. Who would even dare! Punchy rhythm underlayment. Where’s the Groove Wheel? This gig would have favored the Groove Wheel.
