Showed up late to tape, but the taper gods were looking down on us that night....or so we thought. One parking spot left, right in front of the front door. Easy load-in. Good sign. Typical sports bar crowd, there to drink and yell over the music, but oh well. Got the left PA turned around and facing the room, and not the bar, so the chatter is a bit less evident once set 2 begins. Everyone over at the bar gets pretty well animated, so the yellers and screamers take their disputes and pushing and shoving out the door to continue them out front. We step out for some fresh air, and notice four chicks fighting on the ground, one chick hiking her dress up over her head, yelling, "WHAT, I don't see no kids here, I don't see NO KIDS here..!". At least four other guys were pushing and shoving other guys (and girls) around. Three Clay County Sheriff cars roll up with their party lights on, and down the road we hear another siren --- the fire truck is coming, too. Ah, time to go back and listen to the band, that's what WE were there for. Didn't want to get wet. The band is really firing on all 5-cylinders now, but during 'Five Long Years', a local feller comes in looking for someone that drives a green Ford Taurus. Guess he was looking for me.... We go outside, and there are dents all over the left front and side of my car, and the passenger side-view mirror is hanging there broken off its mount. Turns out, some drunk guy slugged a Deputy, and the ensuing takedown was a quite excellent one against my car. A $1500 quite excellent takedown, so to speak. "I Love Middleburg" is what the t-shirts said. Our friend, the bar's owner Brandon, had some for sale behind the counter. I wanted to buy one and wear it home, but he was out of my size. -capnhook Never For Sale. Please support artists that allow taping by buying merchandise & attending shows.
