About Fruition: The first time they ever made music together, Fruition’s three lead singer-songwriters discovered that their voices naturally blended into beautiful three-part harmonies. In the eight years since that impromptu busking session, the Portland, Oregon-based quintet has grown from a rootsy, string-centric outfit to a full-fledged rock band with an easy but powerful grasp of soul, blues, and British Invasion era pop. On their new album Labor of Love, Fruition shows the complete force of their newly expanded sound, matching their more daring musicality with sophisticated, melody-minded song craft. The album subtly imparts the sense of being swept along on a journey, one reflecting an open-hearted spirit that sets in from the first notes of the dobro, mandolin and electric guitar driven title track, carries on to the sleepy soul of “Santa Fe,†and unfolds into the epic balladry of “The Meaning.†“A common theme for all three songwriters is trying to embrace being out on the road all the time, but also feeling like you’re missing out on the everyday lifestyle that most people get to have,†says Leonard. Embedded within that tension is a wistful romanticism that imbues many of the album’s songs. “Most of the love songs are very much about those rare moments of getting to be with the people you love,†says Anderson. “And then other songs are about coming back to the people you love, and trying to deal with the strange ways things change because of being apart.†After releasing their debut EP Hawthorne Hoedown in 2008, Fruition moved from busking on the street, to scraping their way onto the lower levels of festival lineups, to opening tours for bands like ALO and Greensky Bluegrass and onward, to being invited to play bigger festivals with ever bigger billing on those lineups. Last year saw them appear at Bonnaroo, Northwest String Summit and Telluride Bluegrass where Rolling Stone cited their artful choice of covers and “raucous originals filled with heartfelt lyrics and stadium-worthy energy.†This year will see them share a Red Rocks bill with JJ Grey and Mofro and The Infamous Stringdusters, along with a full headline tour of the United States. That breadth of touring experience has steadily reshaped the band and ultimately allowed them to achieve a sound they’ve long aspired toward. “We all tend to write on acoustic guitar and let things start in the same stripped-down, folky sort of way that we always did,†says Naja. “So where the songs come from hasn’t really changed much at all. What’s different is where we let them go from there.†http://www.fruitionband.com/ https://www.facebook.com/fruitionpdx https://fruition.bandcamp.com/ About Tyler Grant: National Flatpicking Champion Tyler Grant is an internationally recognized guitar virtuoso, songwriter, vocalist and leader of the band Grant Farm. Tyler has appeared at most major US festivals and performed thousands of concerts and guitar workshops worldwide. He was an original member of the Emmitt-Nershi Band and was a sideman for Abigail Washburn, April Verch and Adrienne Young. He has produced three solo albums and three releases by Grant Farm for his own Grant Central Records. The latest release, Meeting on the Mountain, an inspired collaboration with the band Fruition, spawned the concept of the Meeting on the Mountain™ LIVE Broadcast, a radio-style musical program, of which Tyler is host. Tyler graduated from California Institute of the Arts (CalArts) in 2000 with a Bachelors degree in Guitar Performance. After moving to Nashville from Southern California in 2003 he joined Adrienne Young’s band and toured with her for nearly two years, acting as musical director and playing on her acclaimed CDs Plow the End of the Row and The Art of Virtue. In 2004 he joined Casey and Chris Henry and the Two-Stringers. In the fall of 2004 he toured China with Abigail Washburn and Friends and appeared on her Song of the Traveling Daughter CD. During the first half of 2005 he toured with phenomenal Canadian fiddler April Verch. Tyler revealed his talents as a singer and songwriter with his first solo album, In The Light, released in June 2006 on FGM Records. From 2005 through 2010 Tyler made hundreds of appearances across the country as a member of the Drew Emmitt Band and the Emmitt-Nershi Band, featuring the frontmen from two of the world’s most popular jambands: Leftover Salmon and the String Cheese Incident. Tyler played on Long Road, the latest acclaimed Drew Emmitt release, which reached #1 on the Jam Band chart, and New Country Blues, the outstanding release by the Emmitt/Nershi Band. In 2010 Tyler took a giant leap of faith and started a new band, Grant Farm. Tyler took first place honors at the Rockygrass guitar contest in 2003, the Wayne Henderson festival contest in 2005, the 2008 New England Flatpicking Championship, the 2009 Doc Watson Guitar Championship at Merlefest and became the National Flatpicking Champion for placing first at Winfield in 2008. He has been an instructor at CalArts, Steve Kaufman’s Acoustic Kamp, Rockygrass Academy, Augusta Heritage Center Bluegrass Week, Grand Targhee Music Camp, and recently completed a Flatpicking lesson series for the wildly successful JamPlay.com. He has been featured in Acoustic Guitar Magazine, Flatpicking Guitar Magazine and Fingerstyle Guitar Magazine. He lives in Fort Collins, Colorado, where he writes music, enjoys the outdoors, teaches lessons, records for Grant Central Records and maintains family life amidst his busy touring and performing schedule. http://tylergrant.com/ http://www.cdbaby.com/cd/TylerGrant1 http://bluegrasstoday.com/tyler-grant-up-the-neck/ About The Good Time Travelers: A high voice, smoky and soulful; a low voice, rich with bravado. Pete Kartsounes and Michael Kirkpatrick come together as The Good Time Travelers. United by a passion for performing, this songwriting and pickin’ duo presents original songs about ‘the journey.’ It’s a simple endeavor: a guitar, a mandolin and two microphones-traveling light, this band fills up your heart, but barely fills a Subaru. Both gentlemen have been leading bands around the west for some time and found each other at the Telluride Bluegrass Festival in Colorado. At their first campground session, it became clear to all who witnessed the magic of these two troubadours that this was more than just another Town Park jam. In fact, Michael won the prestigious Telluride Troubadour Competition in 2014 and Pete had taken an honorable first runner up in 2011 and 2013. Pete and Michael began co-writing in the summer of 2014, focusing on the alchemy of their unique voices and instrumental styles. The "highly acclaimed" debut album is now out and available online and at the shows. http://www.thegoodtimetravelers.com/ https://www.facebook.com/thegoodtimetravelers/ http://www.cdbaby.com/cd/thegoodtimetravelers About Spring Fever Bluegrass Band: Spring Fever is Colorado’s newest and freshest bluegrass band. This five person super group boasts both years of experience as well as a youthful verve. This winning combination is the foundation and strength of this band that has been getting the attention of the front range bluegrass scene. KC and Keith know each other from their tenure with both Open Road and Uncle Earl, two nationally touring bands, oftentimes sharing the stage and traveling together. Keith, as head of the burgeoning bluegrass program at Colorado College and KC as producer and mentor, they bring invaluable experience to the table while Jake and Sam, both in their 20’s, bring a youthful excitement to the music. Together they all provide a strong foundation and excitement rarely found in bands of any genre. All the members of Spring Fever are adept singers on both lead and harmony parts. At the core of the band’s drive is Keith’s traditional straight ahead take no prisoners traditional banjo playing. KC provides a reliable and relentless thump on the bass. Sam’s tasteful and clear-toned dobro playing adds drive and sparkle to the Spring Fever sound. New to Colorado, Jake Simpson is a force to be reckoned with on fiddle and guitar and has been leaving a trail of new fans whenever he performs. Spring Fever is proud to feature the soulful Greg Blake on lead vocals and guitar especially on the heels of his newest release, “Songs of Heart and Home.†Greg and KC spent years on the road with the Jeff Scroggins and Colorado Band and have the tight harmonies to prove it. With Jake and Sam’s powerful singing, this vocal trio is as strong as any on the bluegrass circuit today. https://www.facebook.com/Springfeverbluegrassband/ https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=IjSe2UyjXcA
