Some form of quarantine was coming, but none of us really knew what that meant as we started playing. We all had a feeling that this night - Sunday, March 8 th 2020 - might be our last show for some length of time. But, to think that it would be the last time we would ever play with Lee? That was unfathomable. We are all still trying to make sense of it. Now, nearly two months later, and a month after Lee left us to sleep in the stars, we can only guess when we’ll be able to get together to celebrate and mourn our brother’s life properly. We all look forward to that day with great anticipation. This particular night was a special evening for many reasons. Lee, being the avid taper that he was, brought a new toy to record us. However, Lee - also being Lee - forgot to hit the record button for the first set. But Lee, still being Lee, remembered just as we started up the 2 nd set. I can still see him jumping up from his bench and running over to hit record literally as we were starting to play, sort of chuckling to himself, thinking “I can’t believe I almost forgot to press record, AGAIN!†At least, this is what I suspect he was chuckling about. Little did we know that not only would this be Lee’s last show with us, but this would be the final performance of a band at the DSP before the quarantine. And, in a final act of Lee being Lee,  he pointed out this historical significance to us in a band text chain just a few nights before he passed. The vibe that night was unforgettable. We were feeling great, and the crowd only helped to feed the frenzy. And what a crowd it was. There were some new faces, old friends, and family. It was a perfect mix of the right people on the right night at the right time. We felt the love and we are pretty sure the crowd felt it too. That was his final gift to us. He gave us his wisdom, his talent, and on the last night we played together, he gave us magic. He serenaded his true love, Jamie, in front of the crowd. Cause that’s what love will make you do… We hope you will enjoy our last pre-quarantine set with our most talented brother and friend Lee Schusterman. Happy birthday, Lee! We love you! Lay down my dear brothers, lay down and take your rest Won't you lay your head upon your Savior's breast I love you, but Jesus loves you the best And I bid you goodnight, goodnight, goodnight
