Blind Melon Joy Eslava, Madrid, Spain Nov 11th 2012 Equipment: Zoom Q3 44,1kHz 16bit -> CD wave -> FLAC (only split tracks - no editing) After a long wait (17 years!) I finally got to hear one of my all time favourite bands Blind Melon! I was originally gonna see them in Seattle, back in 1995, but as you all know...things turned out differently. After the band reformed with Travis Warren, I anxiously waited for them to tour Europe. Despite numerous promises from the band, this never happened. All of a sudden Travis was out of the band and everything was chaos for a while. A very smart decision was made and Travis returned as the frontman and the band played a few shows here and there. Unfortunately the band didn't seem too bothered about regrouping properly. Also not playing any of the new songs off of "For my friends" - their CD with Travis. Therefore I was very surprised when, out of the blue - in May 2012, Blind Melon announced 4 Spanish dates. I had a strong feeling that this was probably now or never. I therefore made a quick decision and asked my good friend (also a Melonhead) if she wanted to go. It was a quick "Yes" and flights/tickets were purchased (I'm living in Denmark). It was a nervewracking 6 months long wait, but finally November 11th 2012 came around... Intro Galaxie 2x4 Sleepyhouse Paper Scratcher Drive Skinned I Wonder Walk Mouthfull of Cavities For My Friends Wilt Soup No Rain (Ripped away) No Rain Toes Across The Floor Soak The Sin (break) I Won't Be The Same (Abandon Jalopy - Travis on bass, Brad on guitar) Change Time The Pusher (pics not included) It was fantastic to finally see the band live, although I was personally hoping for a few more of the new songs (i.e. Sometimes, Wishing well, Make a difference, Harmful belly - all KILLER tracks!), but as expected this didn't happen. I talked with Travis briefly after the show. His Facebook posts (see below) sums it up quite well :) Travis Warren - Facebook updates: Just got into Madrid. went to check out the venue and it is killer. one of the coolest venues i have ever seen. i will try and get pics up as soon as i get back home. this trip went by extremely fast. wish we had a few more days here. cant wait for the show tonight! Holy freaking Madrid......You guys know how to tear it up.Serioulsy........ that was a night to remember. What a way to end our run in Spain. Just found out that we are coming back next summer. Can wait. I want to thank Barcelona,Santiago, Bilbao and Madird for a wonderful time. Every single one of you have be so good to us. We will see you soon!!!!! After this run, i can say with a guarantee that good things are coming for Blind Melon fans in the future. I believe this was the time we needed as a band. The past is the past and the future is being made but with stronger roots this time around. Im looking forward to the future and more music being born. I would like to thank everyone who taped the band over the years. You made the wait a lot easier! This recording is my way of saying thumbs up to you! If you feel like it, please comment on quality or something show related etc. I don't need a lot of "Thank you's". Downloading the concert, shows me you're thankful :)
